The itinerary

Ama Dablam Expedition – Proposed itinerary 

altitude chartDay 1 – Depart UK.

Day 2 – Arrive Kathmandu (KTM).

Day 3 – Kathmandu. Sort gear / final preparations for the expedition.

Day 4 – Early morning flight to Lukla (2,800m). Sort the gear in to loads we start trekking to Monjo.

Day 5 – Trail along the side of the Dudh Kosi (Milk River) to Namche Bazaar and then Kyanjuma.

Day 6 – Rest day.

Day 7 – Trekking to Tengboche for lunch and then to Pangboche.

Day 8 – Trecking to Sonam Lodge for an early lunch and continue to Base Camp (4,450m).

Day 9 – Rest and technical training day.

Day 10 – Base Camp Puja and rest day.

Day 9 and Day 10. Sorting the loads for our first carry and first visit of ABC. Acclimatisation.

Day 11 – Acclimatisation day. Advance Base Camp (5,350m) and back to BC.

Day 12 – First night in ABC

Day 13 – Individual acclimatisation schedules per climber. (ABC – C1 – ABC)

Day 14 – Second night in ABC

Day 15 – C1 (5,800m)

Day 16 – Route to Camp 2 and back to C1. 2nd night at C1.

Day 17 – Rest day. Back to BC

Day 18 – Rest Day in BC

Day 19 – Trek back up to Camp 1

Day 20 – C1 to the Yellow Tower and back to Camp 2 (5,950m).

Day 21 – Ascent to Grey Couloir and climb the mushroom ridge. Sleep at Camp 2.9 (6,250m).

Day 22 – Summit day. Summit is Return to Camp 2

Day 23 – Spare Day.

Day 24 – Clear Camps and back to Base Camp. Arrange porter loads.

Day 25 – Trek to Tashi’s place.

Day 26 – Trek to Namche Bazaar and Phak Ding.

Day 27 – Trek to Lukla.

Day 28 – Fly to KTM.

Day 29 – Depart KTM early evening.

Day 30 – Arrive home.
